For a 90th birthday

Ninety years of friends and family say happy birthday.

Grandchildren, great-grandchildren and the cousins in Boston each record a message for their 90th. It all goes into a book to hold, with the voices on a podcast link.

Gathering is free. You won't need a card.

How it works

Bring everyone's stories together with one link!

Start the book

Tell us who it's for

Put in their name and send the link to the family WhatsApp.

Share one link

Everyone adds their story

Friends and family can capture a memory by voice, video, writing or photos, wherever they are in the world. It's easy on any phone and nobody needs an account!

We put it together

Hear it, read it, hold it

We write out every voice note and gather it all into a podcast you can play and a beautiful book you can hold.

The questions in the book

  1. What's a story about them you've never told them?
  2. What did they teach you that you still do?
  3. What would you like to say to them for their 90th?
Who's in a 90th book

Each generation gets its own pages.

The bridge club and the GAA club get the same link as the family.

1

The great-grandchildren

A four-year-old's hello goes in the book like everyone else's, and Chorus writes out what they say for their page.

2

The friends they've had longest

A neighbour of sixty years and the last of their classmates from Ballinasloe can each be in it. Someone can call round with their own phone and record them on the link.

3

A grandchild beside them

A grandchild can sit with them and read the stories out.

What people say

What people say in a 90th birthday book

"Dad, it's Úrsula. I was thinking about the night you drove to Galway in the snow to collect me from the bus. Happy ninetieth."

In their words
A Christmas gift
We gave a book of stories about Mam to her for Christmas and she said it was the best gift she had received. There were some stories she had never heard! She felt really surrounded by love.

Questions people ask

What do you get someone for their 90th who has everything?

Ask the people who've known them longest. Each of their stories goes in the book with their name on it.

Can older relatives who don't use smartphones take part?

Yes. Anyone can type a message instead of recording one, so a grandchild can take it down for them.

Can we play it at the 90th birthday party?

Yes. Put the podcast link on during the party and pass the printed book round after the cake.

Can family abroad record?

Yes. They can record from anywhere in the world with the link. We post the printed book to Ireland, the UK, the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, every EU country, Norway, Iceland and Switzerland.

Can we add old photos?

Yes. The wedding photo from 1958 can go in with the story about that day.

Can everyone chip in?

Yes, if you turn chip-in on. Everyone who records can put money towards the book and saves their card. Their cards are charged when you go to pay, and it comes off what you pay. If you don’t finish paying, their money goes back within a week.
