For someone getting better

The family sends their news to the hospital.

Everyone they'd normally see gets a word in, even when visiting hours are short.

Gathering is free. You won't need a card.

Everyone adds their story

Friends and family can capture a memory by voice, video, writing or photos, wherever they are in the world. It's easy on any phone and nobody needs an account!

We put it together

Hear it, read it, hold it

We write out every voice note and gather it all into a podcast you can play and a beautiful book you can hold.

The three questions for a get well book

  1. What's the news they've missed?
  2. What's a story about them that always makes you laugh?
  3. What will you do together when they're back on their feet?
Who's in a get well book

Visiting hours are short, and this way everyone gets a word in.

Messages come in while they're still on the ward.

1

The grandchildren

A teenager can record a message on their own phone in their bedroom, with nobody listening.

2

A video from home

A grandchild can send a video of the dog waiting at the door.

3

The neighbours

The man from two doors up can tell them the grass is cut.

In their words
A Christmas gift
We gave a book of stories about Mam to her for Christmas and she said it was the best gift she had received. There were some stories she had never heard! She felt really surrounded by love.

Questions people ask

What is a good gift for someone in hospital?

Ask the family what the ward allows first.

How do I send a get well message from a group?

Start a book and put one link in the group chat. The person gets every message together, each under the name of whoever sent it.

Can colleagues from work send a message too?

Yes. Anyone with the link can record, with no app and no account.

Can everyone chip in?

Yes, if you turn chip-in on. Everyone who records can put money towards the book and saves their card. Their cards are charged when you go to pay, and it comes off what you pay. If you don’t finish paying, their money goes back within a week.

Who could do with hearing from everyone?
