For a First Communion

The whole family records for the Communion.

Grandparents, godparents and cousins each record a message for the big day. The child gets a book of them, with a podcast link of every voice.

Gathering is free. You won't need a card.

Everyone adds their story

Friends and family can capture a memory by voice, video, writing or photos, wherever they are in the world. It's easy on any phone and nobody needs an account!

We put it together

Hear it, read it, hold it

We write out every voice note and gather it all into a podcast you can play and a beautiful book you can hold.

The three questions for a Communion

  1. What do you remember about your own Communion day?
  2. What's something they do that always makes you laugh?
  3. What do you want to say to them on their big day?
Who's in a Communion book

The child will know every voice in it.

Older cousins who made their Communion last year can tell the child what the day is like.

1

The godparents

Seven years after the christening, they can say what they see in the child now.

2

Brothers and sisters

An older sister can type a message she wrote herself.

3

The neighbours

Mrs Flynn from next door gave Saoirse her first bike.

What people say

What people say in a Communion book

Talk to the child, and keep it to something a seven-year-old would follow.

AAmbroseher grandad
"Hi Saoirse! I wore runners under my dress at mine because my shoes hurt."
MMellaher cousin, aged nine
"I held you at your christening and you pulled my earring out. I'm so proud of you, pet."
ÍÍdeher godmother
"Saoirse, well done today. I'm making mine in three years."
OOranher little brother, aged four
When to start

Open it a month before the Communion

In their words
A Christmas gift
We gave a book of stories about Mam to her for Christmas and she said it was the best gift she had received. There were some stories she had never heard! She felt really surrounded by love.

Questions people ask

What is a good Communion gift that isn't money?

Ask each relative to tell the child one thing they remember about them, from the baby years to now.

What is a nice Communion gift from grandparents?

Granny and Grandad can pay for the printed book while the rest of the family adds their messages. With chip-in on, anyone else can put something towards it too.

Can the child record a message too?

Yes. They can say thank you to everyone after the day, and it goes in the book with the rest.

Can family abroad send a message for the Communion?

Yes. They can record from anywhere in the world with the link. We post the printed book to Ireland, the UK, the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, every EU country, Norway, Iceland and Switzerland.

Do grandparents need a smartphone?

No. They can write their message for you to type in.
